We are seeking to fill that gap by providing the public with understandable, reliable information about cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis in women in the United States and currently accounts for the second most cancer deaths in women behind lung cancer. More than 260,000 diagnoses of breast cancer are made each year in this country, and the majority of these are found at an early enough stage that surgery is a preferred option.
In this episode of the All In Against Cancer podcast, we talk with Ochsner breast surgeon, Dr. Alexa Elder, and plastic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Smith, to learn more about the different types of breast cancer surgeries and how surgical decisions are made in collaboration with patients.
